Code of Ethics

We have a pretty simple and straightforward policy: we do everything in our power to avoid conflict to provide our readers with fair and honest reporting. We live by professional integrity and ethical behavior.

When it comes to our advertising, most of our support comes directly from our sponsors. We have a diverse audience, which includes a mix of wine industry as well as consumer viewers, so we welcome ads from venues such as regional distributors, food & wine events, glass manufacturers, wine accessories, banks, travel websites, wine tour operators and such.

We also use affiliate programs like Vinquire and WineZap. We receive pennies every time a reader clicks on our "Find this Wine", which deflects about 1% of our operating costs, but the main reason we use the links is to offer our readers an easy way to locate wines we review. We are also affiliates of Amazon, LinkShare and Commission Junction, so we receive a small percentage of any purchase you make after clicking on these links from our site.

Wine Samples & Reviewing Policy

We accept samples from wineries and wine marketers. Samples do not guarantee a review, but we do guarantee fairness of all write-ups. If you are interested in sending samples, please send us an email requesting shipping instructions. Click here for more information about how we conduct our tastings.

Unlike other publications, we publish both the good and the bad. Why? Because the public deserves a fair and honest review.

We certainly don't pretend to be Dionysus, nor will we ever tell our readers what to drink. However, if our tasting panel believes a wine deserves a cautionary flag, we will throw one.

Too many adventuresome wine consumers step up to their retail shelves or make decisions from a wine list with this approach, "Well, I haven't heard anything bad about this wine". For all the writers who feel too timid or too elite to write about bad wines, we feel we would let down the audience we strived to obtain and abandon them in the only time of need they might choose to listen to our advice.
