DUCK POND CELLARS
Review Date: 2006-01-23

Address:
23145 Highway 99 W | Dundee, Oregon 97115

Duck Pond Cellars is a great place to visit - not only is the staff attentive, friendly and knowledgeable, but they offer copious services, which include complementary wine tastings (limited production wines are available at a nominal charge), tours (2-40 people with advanced reservations) and special events. Additionally they have a great retail marketplace to shop for unique gifts and gourmet products, which include original artwork, hand painted pottery, gourmet cooking products, stemware, cookbooks and linens.

We particularly enjoyed the staff's humor when it came to selling their products - for those of you who are familiar with the infamous "Two-buck Chuck" (a Charles Shaw table wine sold exclusively at Trader Joe's stores at the ridiculously economical price of $2 a bottle), the staff announced their "Five-buck Duck" which happened to be their 2001 Duck Pond Merlot. Keep in mind that "Five-buck Duck" is in a class way beyond "Two-buck Chuck"!

The winery could focus a bit more attention to the exterior (e.g. the entrance and picnic area requires maintenance) and there wasn't much of a view to speak of, but that should not deter you from visiting this wonderful family owned winery.
