SAUSAL Zinfandel 2005
designation: Private Reserve
vineyard: Alexander Valley
region: California - Sonoma
review date:
2007-09-01

QVV Award

The Sausal 2005 Private Reserve Zinfandel's briar fruit from the Alexander Valley permeates the nose and carries over into the palette. Spice is almost as prevalent as the berry fruit. Full bodied, concentrated and delicious, this zinfandel brings it and brings it hard (well). Our experiences with Sausal have usually yielded similar consistent results and the style is always an attractive package. This consistency validates it deserves a Quality Value Vintner's (QVV) Award.

As it develops, a fruity lusciousness separates this wine from the pedestrian wines produced at the same price point making it an exceptional value. Hot finish brings home the heat.
