Domaine Olga Raffault

Lean and mean, the 2005 Olga Raffault Chinon Les Galuches is firm without being huge and enjoyable for that trait. The fruit is restrained in a way the makes you think about it. Good enough to notice but you have to mentally dissect the flavors - why? Just enjoy the wine; it is unique and WONDERFUL. The quality of French wines that I have tasted lately has certainly been on the rise; bigger but cleaner flavors, distinguished traits of terrior and the example this wine sets brings home the concept and hammers down the reality that French wines are getting better. Berry and floral aromas vie for attention in this well made package from the Chinon appellation (MDME).
