JACOBS CREEK Shiraz/Syrah 2004
designation: Reserve
vineyard: N/A
region: Australia
review date:
2008-03-13

Jacob's Creek What a great wine great value. However there was a discrepancy concerning the alcohol level; Jacob’s Creek website lists 15% ABV but the bottle displays 13.5%. Mistake or tax evasion?

After tasting the 2004 standard Shiraz from Jacobs Creek I wondered how much better can the Reserve be at only a couple of bucks more, well the truth is, it’s much better. In fact, if you know of any other deal where you can step up this much in quality for that little of an investment please let me know. The wine smells almost as good as it tastes. The aromas focus around dark berry fruit with coffee and oak rounding out the experience. Flavors continue the dark berry vein, showing a full appreciation of the 20 months spent in Oak. Mature flavors of black pepper and spice shoe through as the wine spreads across the palate. The finish is long and luxurious (MDME).

Score: 91 | Ratings Value: $14.00 ABV: 13.5%
