Titus Cabernet franc

I love it when I find a wine that consists primarily of a varietal that is not main stream, overly marketed, or over-hyped. Cabernet Franc has always held its appeal in the hearts of European educated enophiles from here and abroad. For most Americans it’s another wine varietal that sounds a lot like something else. From reading the wine list they are not sure what it actually is and let’s face it they do not want to re-live that episode when they ordered the Sauvignon Blanc with their steak before they realized they actually meant to order the Cabernet Sauvignon. Do yourself a favor and keep a lookout at your local retailer or on your local restaurant wine list for the Titus 2005 Cabernet Franc. Or you could do the really smart thing (if you live in a state where wine can be shipped to you) go online to the Titus website and order it direct. You might even consider joining their wine club.

If you live in a state where you cannot have wine shipped to you I suggest you either move or get the laws changed. This is 2008 isn’t it?

Let’s get on to the business at hand and review this wine. Titus Cabernet Franc is 75% Cab Franc, 13% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec – a blend that is mouthwatering and super special. The appealing aromas appear without a lengthy breathing time and reflect blueberry and cedar on the second swirl with black olive and a slight hint of vanilla. Tasting profile consists of dark fruit, very ripe strawberry and tealeaf. The texture in the mouth is incredibly pleasant, almost soft but big. The finish lingers coaxing your senses to try just another sip. This is a great wine for Sunday dinners and any celebration where you would like to impress your guests. I would serve it with Hamburgers to Beef Wellington or any meal you would consider having a big Cabernet Sauvignon. Enjoy this one soon before it’s all gone.
