Patton Valley Pinot Noir

This wine showcases the talents of one of Willamette Valley's up and coming young winemakers, Jerry Murray. This wine is extremely full-bodied for a Northern Willamette Valley Pinot Noir.

The Patton Valley Vineyards location affords them a bit more sun on good days than some of their neighbors and the added elevation does not hurt. It also helps their winemaker has mad skills. Culinarians turned

winemakers usually do Ok and this ex-chef has done just a bit better than OK.

The wine is a powerhouse of a Pinot Noir right out of the gate with up front aromas that already tell you this is a big-boy Pinot. It would hold its own with Peppercorn Crusted Rack of Lamb or a Smoky Virginia Ham. With an attractive soft texture the suppleness of this wine appeals the moment you move past the deep dark stone fruit aromas of black plum and vanilla into the flavors of bing cherry, white pepper and a combination I can only describe as floral and spicy at the same time. The finish wraps it up in an enticing come-hither sensually evoking texture that works well with the sexy mouth-feel of the fine-grained tannins. ~Marc Hinton
