Robert Oatley Shiraz

Restrained and polished, this Shiraz stumped me on a blind taste. I was surprised with it’s full flavor on a medium frame that carried the wine in a balanced and focused manner that put this wine in a rare category. One who has stepped up in class, as handicappers would describe, a racehorse that has outgrown the crowd s/he used to race with and now will compete with worthy opponents.

Rarely does one sample an Aussie Shiraz that gets labeled medium bodied. The need to be masculine down there sometimes becomes a bit cumbersome especially as it

relates to wine flavor profiles for a region and varietal. It was a pleasure to taste a wine that was restrained. This is a balanced Shiraz from down-under worth locating, plunking down your money and rewarding your taste buds. The wine has dark cherry aromas and blackberry with faint licorice on the palate, which rounds out a full flavored tasting spectrum. Enjoy! ~Marc Hinton
