WillaKenzie Thibaud

As far as styles go, this is not your mother's Burgundian style Pinot noir. It’s a big wine that's been heavily oaked and some might even say it's over extracted to the point of "in-your-face". Fortunately, the meal we served with this wine was a perfect match. It’s a full-flavored Pinot with aromas and flavors of black fruit and spice with a dash of raspberry and a long, tannic finish.

Originally crafted for restaurant sales only, Sommelier Andrew Green of the Bacchus Restaurant group in San Francisco and winemaker Thibaud Mandet were involved in the blending of this cuvee. They did a great job on the wine and it's good to see more restaurants using Stelvin enclosures (screw cap). A good cuvee with very specific culinary applications and still a great representation of the breadth of what Willamette Valley Pinot noir wine styles offer. ~Pamela Heiligenthal
