Bodegas Lan Rioja Reserva

Talk about a wine that will literally knock your socks off - this is what I’m talking about! After a rather hard day at work, I came home and started dinner in a bitter mood, which is rare. By the time I get home, I am usually very congenial no matter how bad work went. Then I opened this wine and wanted to get out of my work

clothes and into something appropriate to cook in. This one should be decanted or maybe use one of those cool devices like a Soiree, a device that immediately opens up wine as it is poured from the bottle. It is made in the classic Old World style of red wines from Spain. Tight and tannic even at five years in the bottle this one will age. This is a Tempranillo made by modern standards compared to the old style from the 1600’s. In Spain this wine is from the Jumilla region and this is a run, do not walk, get off your ass and find it wine.

Dark berry aromas with a good bit of vanilla representing serious oak aging; those dark berry black and blueberry flavors carry over in the taste with a serious spice mix mingled in. This will pair well with big flavors of roasted meat, tomato sauces and even smoked meat. ~Marc Hinton
