Dry Creek Somers

The 2006 Dry Creek Somers Ranch Zinfandel is a great wine but zinfandel has definitely entered a new realm of identity and expansion in culinary pairings.

The elegance and depth of this wine ten years ago would have never

been associated with the zinfandel varietal (go ZAP) this is definitely a wine worthy of earned becoming a special occasion wine. If you have the budget to have this with burgers and pizza, let your conscience be your guide.

If I was on a date and I was offered this wine, I would know the person pouring actually does like me maybe even more. That can go both ways so again let your conscience be your guide. Polished balanced with out much spice, what really threw me was how upscale and refined the blend tasted and how Zinfandels and not just this one have evolved into a different varietal over the last twenty years.

Dark smooth and aromatic, the wine is soft on the palate with an octane level of 15%. A beautiful bouquet of aromas and the acidity is restrained and not hot on the finish. This wine brings the class and would be welcome at almost any dinner table - a wonderful experience and a pleasure to taste. ~Marc Hinton
