VALPANERA refosco

Red wines from this region are not as well known as their white counterpoints, because two thirds of the vines planted in this region are white wine varietals.

I have to admit I think this the first time I have tasted this grape (Refosco) and I liked the wine.

A workhorse of a wine when it comes to culinary applications almost anything except delicate white fish and citrus sauces will go with this wine. From Grilled Beef Rib eye steak to hearty pasta dishes and Neapolitan style pizza this wine will pair well with almost any cuisine. Aromas of dried cherry and fresh tobacco the flavors on the palate become chocolate and cherry not overly complex, but well defined. A short but pleasant finish was the only distraction and should not deter you from trying this wine. ~Marc Hinton
