Weninger Blaufrankisch

If you haven't tried an Austrian Blaufränkisch yet, get yourself a bottle and try it on for size.

Blaufränkisch wines are distinctively rich in character exhibiting spicy, tannic flavors. The Weninger is just that with a pretty nose of violets and strawberries and aromas of dark ripe cherries, which carry nice spice and round tannins.

If you drink this wine while it's young as I did, it will

have fruity characteristics of cherries, raspberries and a hint of chocolate and eucalyptus on the finish. Right now, it's bold and juicy with good acidity and balance. Hold on to it for a while and it will become mellow, velvety and complex. It's a truly fantastic wine worth the venture. ~Pamela Heiligenthal
