ANAM CARA Pinot Noir 2006
designation: Mark I
vineyard: Nicholas Estate
region: Oregon
review date:
2009-12-14

Anam Cara Mark I

If you haven't tried Anam Cara Pinot noir from the Willamette Valley, what are you waiting for? In 2001, they planted thirty

vineyard acres on a dilapidated walnut, hazelnut and plum orchard, and you can almost taste the remnants of the old orchard in the wine they produce.

The 2006 vintage hits a sweet spot, producing a spectacular representation of an earthy, spicy Pinot wrapped in a velvety blanket of chocolate, raspberries and plum. The winery consistently produces powerhouse Pinot with finesse, and every vintage proves better than the last. 50 case production, Pommard clones 115, 777.

Note: The '06 vintage was a superior year for the Willamette Valley, so I'd suggest cellaring this for at least another year before consuming. ~Pamela Heiligenthal
