Sausal Cabernet

Wow, tasting this wine solidified my respect for Sausal. They have produced quality wines for years that were not celebrated in a manner they deserved. I hope I can help change that and let enophiles know Sausal is one of the most consistent wineries currently producing in Alexander Valley, always have been, always will be.

This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon starts a little chunky in a rustic but exciting way. The 2005 vintage is holding well five years into its journey. Dried cherry aromas barely protrude through the oaky leathery spice but the package works and it is exciting.

Huge cascades of fruit assault the palate like a B-17 bombing raid developing complexity in the mid-palate that resonates the initial impression carrying a focused core of dark chocolate cherry cordial on the wicked sensuous spicy finish. Need I say more? ~Marc Hinton
